Does the title itself ring the tone of my experiences in my jobs? Yes, my professional front was not a bed of roses for me when I was doing full-time jobs. My very first experience as a junior librarian itself was a BIG TRAGIC STORY. As a junior employee, I prepared myself to get bossed over by one and all (even the peons). Sadly, even such prepared caution did not help me much. I was working and working right from 8 to 6 even though my allotted timing was only 8 to 4. For a not-so-big- a college, there were 4 librarians appointed—2 seniors and 2 juniors. Among them, I stood as the odd person out as the others were similar in their nature and attitude—they took their job easy and did not break their heads like me. I could never ever kill my conscience and hence frictions and differences became pretty obvious and unavoidable.
I kept on toiling like a workhorse and they were enjoying, literally, in the other block…I waited for justice to prevail and the higher authorities to detect all this. What was most shocking to me is that they had already impressed the higher-ups with their smiles and flattery, which I am incapable of doing even in my dreams. You will be amused if I go further to say that they exploited my troublesome family situations and other personal problems and complained to the higher authorities that I was sort of mentally disturbed and hence hated everyone around!!! They were ready to do anything to save themselves; twisting my sufferings to their personal gains did not prick their conscience even a little bit.
To sum up, it was with a heavy heart that I quit that job after having fought till the last bit to prove my case. Even today, I am confused whether I lost the battle or won it?? What do you think???

You lost in the short term, but won in the long term
Great story. I think you lost in the short term, because you quit the job. You should have continued to make an impact and gain respect of all around you.
But, in the long run, you hav really won. Working in a place as this for years, you would have damaged your self esteem, your confidence. that would have ruined your career. By quiting and taking up a different job, you removed all negative factors from your life.
In the end, I think you made the right choice.
