• Preparing the software configuration management plan and maintaining it throughout the project life cycle.
• Defining software configuration processes/guidelines/standards for a project and ensure that they are being followed.
• Define the build strategy, build types and perform all build activities throughout the project lifecycle.
• Defining the change management process to be used by the project.
• Defining branching and merging strategies, parallel development techniques, user access control procedures, check-in policies.
• Define and develop backup and recovery procedures.
• Build and maintain the development and test environments.
• Administer the configuration management tool used to maintain the project artefacts.
• Perform some if not all release management activities.
• Enable integration of the CM tool with requirement management tool and the defect tracking tool to provide an enhanced integrated development environment and traceability.
• Write build scripts to perform automated builds and reporting.
• Developing install packs and testing them for successful installations.
• Maintaining a requirement traceability matrix throughout the project and track requirements till code.
• Act as a point of contact between developers and the testers, track defects till closure.
• Preparing the release plans, delivery checklists etc.
• Preparing release notes.
• Preparing installation notes.
• Acceptance testing of received releases from development teams.
• Approve releases for testing and live releases
• Distribution and installation of accepted software onto development, test and live environments.
• Carrying out the CM tool setup activities, setting up databases and the servers, provide necessary CM tool usage training to the users.
• Conducting configuration audits with the project leads and members.
• Work closely with the Software Configuration Manager or Project Manager to resolve issues.
