I know what part time jobs are. And I know temp, contracting and such job types. But what are seasonal jobs.

Seasonal jobs are those, as the term implies, that are seasonal in nature. Due to the seasonality, these jobs require work for only certain months of a year and do not have needs for the remainder of the year. Seasonal jobs are classic cases in which it makes sense to employ part time or short term help rather than hire a full time person.

Taking up a part time job is easy. It is not as stressful as a full time job search, since you are not much concerned about the salary, the type of work, the company etc.

Yet, there are some things to keep in mind when taking up you next part time job. Some of these are.

1. Never take any part time job without verifying the identity and authenticity of the employer. Whatever little time you will spend for him, there is a good amount of risk that he may not treat you well, may not pay you in the end and so on.

It really depends on whom you ask. A person who is well established in his job and rising the career ladder fast will never take a part time or temp job. But a student from college would be more than glad to take up any part time job to pull in extra cash to improve his lifestyle. Such jobs can also give you variety in job experience.

A family crisis that requires additional capital is also another reason people work multiple shifts and need to know where to go to get the best pay for their precious time.

In an article on Rediff.com on February 13, 2006, it mentioned that Temporary jobs are going to pick up pace.

The salary gaps between temps and permanent is shrinking and going to do so in the future as well.

" The compensation offered to temporary job seekers or temps has gone up substantially for freshers; with an average growth of 15 per cent across all experience levels."

We believe that the new trend in jobs is contract and part time jobs. And the reason is pretty clear. Part time jobs provide the flexibility to do the same job in a new fashion.
